Most important thing, your subs must be away from your main. When people scout, they can only scout your main. Second most important, go max your scout. If people can’t see your crop level, it is harder for them to starve you. Someone who attacks you will usually only be using 1 of their cities to warp it for attacking you. – Only one city to be commanding from.
The other cities might then all be a few minutes away from each other, and preferably beside some nice high level forts you can farm. Use 5 cities for building troops. Placing those cities beside forts will save you much time in getting full resources for all cities. That way you can keep the cities constantly building cats and cavs.
