INTERMEDIATES
By the time you've progressed on forward a good bit, it's time to focus on finishing up cricial techs.
MARCHING SPEED, the fastest player always strikes first. Do this first. Also makes you move across the map faster, and the speed your troops move forward on the battlefield.
SCOUTING, both for offense and defense purposes. Do this next, at all costs.
SHOOTING, this helps cats and also archers (but not turrets).
TURRETS, at 9 or 10 these become deadly and hard for opponents to defeat.
DEFENSE, this especially helps cav army but can cause damage received to be less for anyone.
ATTACK, it can help your attacks be 0.5% stronger for each point, which is beneficial after you've invested in the speed.
PLANTING, it will help you support large army once you're ready.
In this phase, your buildings are mostly done now except for new subs you take on. You might want to start making new subs instead of stealing them, or steal only partial upgrades, in order to have new building room, because building helps you keep gaining prestige points. It gets harder to gain prestige as you grow in levels because as you take on lower level opponents, they gain more prestige per troop of yours killed, causing your gain to be less. So you have to find bigger targets, while supplementing your prestige gain in other ways through this phase. Exeptional hunts, building towns/walls, and killing other troops of course are the ways.
By now you might have some idea what type army you like using and can tailor your techs based on this.
CAV ARMY: HEAL, DEFENSE
CAT ARMY: SHOOTING, ATTACK
Attributes
SPEED: Affects the distance a unit can travel along the field; combined with full enhancement on Level 15 equipment, it enables the fastest player on the battlefield an advantage due to the ability to strike first. It also helps when travelling across the map so this the best attribute.
DEFENSE: This reduces how much damage an opponent can do to you. If you attack, this can also help counter defender advantage. Important for cav army
ATTACK: Makes attacks stronger. Important for Cat army (but speed first). Lets them do even more damage per round.
FORTUNE: Increases chance of"lucky" double attacks and gives you better hunts. But it's only a chance so don't rely on this.
Skills
Train them wisely. Of course if you have coins you can easily switch between which attributes and skills you develop, but if you don't wish to buy coins decide early on which ones you are going to develop.
CONVINCE: convinces the enemies losses from traps (3% per point).
Though it can be fun on PVP, for your main playing army this is the most useless skill to train. It helps steal a portion of enemy's troops into your army, if your wall has traps. (One downfall is it leaves troops out in your town, so they're vulnerable to prestige loss if you're not online.)
UNLOCK CHEST: open chests equal to or lower than your chest skill without a key
Don't bother training above 1-3 because a team member can open them for you or you can buy a key. Save points for more important skills.
BREAK CRANNY: Helps you break into the cranny of your enemy (5% per point).
With max cranny break, you cut down an enemy's resources by an extra 50%, making this helpful for either starving opponents, or farming inactives faster.
Useful, but you could spend these points wisely. Train a couple points to make farming easier, and save the rest for more important things.
HIDDEN ATTACK: Increases chance of hidden attack.
This is to be used with a catapult army mainly. Catapults take a long time to travel across the map and therefore are easily spotted by the defender and they just hunt. If you increase this skill you have a greater likelihood of getting a hidden attack. If you do get a hidden attack then it is unlikely that the defender will spot the attack and therefore you will be able to move a powerful catapult army to attack someone with less of a risk of it being a waste of time.
HEAL: restores your troops lost in battle (2% per point).
Tends to be used if you have a cavalry army as you are likely to incur loss. It will heal a percentage of them and therefore save you the prestige you could have lost.
This skill is actually useful for ALL army types to reduce losses and therefore the prestige lost in a battle, therefore directly influencing the prestige gain especially in battles containing players of two significantly different levels.
ENHANCEMENTS
After you get level 15 equipment,
Before you spend your precious enhancement stones on anything else, enhance your horse and manual first to 20.
When people with top speed hit you, they will always get the first hit anyway, which means your attack and defense are useless. They will get to your army first with their intense speed! So there is no point in focusing first on your sword or armor.
ARMY
If you're not sure of your army yet, I recommend you try the all cavalry army for a while. It extends your range greatly, allowing you to grab oasis from a far distance which makes you safer and harder to be starved by enemies. It also allows you to travel farther and faster to find other people's armies to kill for prestige points.
It becomes easier at this point to farm player towns. You should still be careful to at least try and avoid active players.
Keep them guessing. The bigger your army gets, the more crop oasis you will need to take on, in place of other resources you can farm more easily now. Don't keep your crop oasis right by your town if your army will starve quickly without it. Others will know this and crop you, kicking you out of the oasis. Move the food at least 15 minutes away from town. Cav army makes this fast to do. OBVIOUS FOOD MEANS OBVIOUS TROOPS! Remember this in times of war against others, and use the reverse tactic for offense too, not just defense. Find their food sources and you might find their troops in a town nearby.
CROPS
Don't fear living in the negative on crops. With a full warehouse, -10,000 consumption will last 44.9 hours! Just do the math. come in and restock your warehouse often enough and you'll be fine. Remember oasis daily level drops will cause the negative to rise.
Dispatch some troops to subs at night to help lighten the load.
HUNTING
No longer the hunted, now you start to become the hunter. The bigger your level gets, the less opportunity you have for gaining prestige from upgrading. So you have to start hunting harder for troops to kill to keep leveling up. Open your map and start scouting until you've scouted a dozen spots. Go to your mailbox and look at the reports for opportunities. Send your army off and go get it, when you find it! But remember: never leave your army out while you're scouting because this can lead to others finding you first.
FARMING
You might start to get braver now about farming other towns. Unless you are feeling froggy, I suggest you try to limit yourself to inactive towns, or at least ones that appear to be! Just like in the Beginner's Guide, a full warehouse that you're about to scout and view is awfully enticing. If the warehouse is max full, or has nice even numbers, the player probably hasn't been active (or lately, at least). Unless their warehouse is just poorly upgraded, in which case it never maxes out. If it's max one day but low the next day yet even numbers, they were probably farmed by someone else already.
BAIT
Sometimes when farming or hunting you may find random stashes of troops to kill. Usually, that's great! But be wary, just in case it was only bait they left out, hoping someone would attack it. As you learned in the Beginner's Guide, Always Command Your Fights! If they are online they might call out their whole army after you launch your attack, causing you to lose troops and prestige. When in doubt, scout them again before your troops land to see if things changed. This is why it's always smart to have a few coins on hand so you can callback just in case! If you still didn't see troops and the battle begins, you can still call back during battle if you have coins, but only if you remembered to Command Your Battle!
